Mid-Century Low Berger Stool in Oak Charlotte Perriand Steph Simon Paris, 1950s
Original low stool or 'tabouret' in French, known as the Berger Stool. Designed by Charlotte Perriand. She has always been a big fan of mountain life, the design is inspired by traditional furniture and typical materials found in the Alps.
Handcrafted in oak by Steph Simon in the 1950s or 1960s using traditional woodworking techniques. Typical are the tapered legs and the beautiful joinery details. The typical connection, used to turning the wood seat, is found underneath.
Great patina to the wood, nicely aged in a dark honey colour. Small damage beneath, see last photograph.
