CTW Coffee Table in Ash Plywood, Charles & Ray Eames for Herman Miller / Evans, 1940s
Second generation table, sold by Herman Miller, but manufactured by Evans Plywood between 1946 and 1949. Recognisable by the Flat Heat screws and the lack of the stamped model name which is specific to the later tables made by Herman Miller. The tables were discontinued in 1954 until their re-edition in 1994.
The table was part of the plywood group of furniture launched in 1946. CTW was the abbreviation of the Coffee (C) Table (T) with a Wood (W) base.
The Table features a circular five-layer plywood top, placed on four matching legs of plywood bent to nearly 90 degrees. It is made of Calico Ash veneer. Freshly refinished.
