Herman Miller Lounge chair 670 & ottoman 671 Charles & Ray Eames 1960s

Herman Miller Lounge chair 670 and ottoman 671 in Brazilian Rosewood by Ray & Charles Eames, 1960s

The production of the Lounge Chair started in 1956 after several years of development by Ray & Charles Eames. This particular example is a second generation chair manufactured in the USA by Herman Miller between 1964 and 1970. It is recognisable by the black round label.

It comes in Brazilian Rosewood (= Rio Palisander), which cannot be used anymore. The leather cushions of these early chairs are feather filled and made of thicker leather than the chairs produced afterwards.

The wooden parts have been restored and refinished. The original cushions in thick black leather have a great patina and are ready to be used for many more years. The armrests have been re-upholstered with high-quality leather. A real collectors item !
